Best selling author Mel Mason is The Clutter Expert. As a sexual abuse survivor, she grew up depressed, suicidal and surrounded by clutter. What she realized after coming back from the brink of despair and getting through her own chaos was that the outside is just a mirror of the inside.

And if you only organize the outside without changing the inside, the clutter keeps coming back. That’s why you can clear a surface or organize your closet and in no time, it’s cluttered back up again. So, that set her on a mission to empower people around the world to get free from clutter and experience more happiness and more abundance in every area of their lives.

Since then she’s used her own experience to create a step-by-step process designed to help you get free from clutter without feeling overwhelmed, that keeps the clutter from coming back called “The Seven Steps to Manage Overwhelm and Organize ANY Space” and she has written a new book, Freedom From Clutter: The Guaranteed, Foolproof, Step-by-Step Process to Remove the Stuff That’s Weighing You Down. MEL MASON – THE CLUTTER EXPERT
A Massachusetts native, Mel has experienced an unusual life: “I was on a race track and came in 1st place before I ever came out of my mother’s womb! – My mother competed in an all-women’s Powder Puff Race when she was pregnant with me, and she came in 1st place!”

“Spirit has been the guiding Force in my life for as long as I can remember! – At five years old I was standing outside with my best friend, and her dad talking, and all I remember is that this knowing came over me as I looked up to the sky.  It was this knowing that we are all brothers and sisters, because we come from the same Father. And that understanding has driven my life to be of service to others.”

“No one thought that I would live to see my 18th birthday! And yet here I am! – I experienced the dark night of my soul at 15 years old when I lost my brother to suicide.  And my journey of healing is what led me to create De-Cluttering Spaces. I wasn’t always this organized and happy! In fact, I was cluttered, depressed and suicidal by the time I was 15. I spent the next year and a half of my life institutionalized in a treatment center for adolescents. But that’s where my life would drastically change. Because it was there that I was introduced to yoga and mindfulness.  And what yoga and mindfulness taught me in a nutshell was how to come home in my body and be present for everything that I had been running from. And as a result of being willing to bring my presence to my life, something totally unexpected happened, I got organized from the inside out and began to experience happiness and abundance in every area of my life.  And because I learned how to get free from clutter and access my birthright, I had to find a way to share that with others. So that’s why I created De-Cluttering Spaces.”

Mel moved to San Diego in 2002 and for the first couple years struggled with a crystal meth addiction.  She got sober in 2004 and in 2006 began working at Mahogany Run Delivery, Inc, where she “got to play Tetris with furniture in a 10,000 square foot warehouse all day long.”  She was promoted rapidly within the company becoming warehouse manager within three months, operations manager after a year and then re-structuring the company with the owner and becoming the General Manager.

Her education has been Yoga Teacher Training, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, Reiki I, and Theta Level I & II.  And In 2014, she created De-Cluttering Spaces where she’s been helping clients get free from clutter; physical, mental & emotional, so they can make space for the magic to happen and experience happiness and abundance in every area of their lives.

Mel believes that “It’s your birthright to be happy & abundant in every area of your life, and clutter is anything that keeps you from accessing that birthright.”

Mel wanted to be part of the PDACC Ambassador Team to make connections and to give back to the community.  “Being an Ambassador has helped me get out of my shell and talk to people instead of standing on the wall! It pushes me out of my comfort zone! I’ve made great connections in the short time that I have been an ambassador.”

Mel is most proud of the creation and success of her business; De-Cluttering Spaces!”  She would like to be remembered for her heart…and for spreading unconditional love to everyone she meets!"

Testimonials
When I asked for your help in the fall of 2018, I was really stuck in my career path.  I had left a 21 year career, started one business, ended it, and then started a second one.  I had moved from Los Angeles to Palm Springs without a clear direction of what I was really looking to do.  It seemed very possible at the time as well that we might need to move again.
When I started my second business though, I realized I was so stuck in my mind that, as you say, it was really manifesting itself in my physical space.  I had so much stuff in my office/catch-all multi-use space that I couldn't really focus on my new business.
With your guidance, coaching, and helping me understand and determine whether each item I touched in the decluttering process was still needed in my life, was the most helpful experience for me.  You weren't just helping me clear my physical space, but you were teaching me new life skills that I would use several times since then.  This is what I really hoped to gain from your service.
I've recently moved to Mission Viejo in early 2019 and I used my new decluttering/organizing skills when purging, packing my last home and unpacking and organizing my new home.
I hope everyone you meet at some point takes advantage of your services and like me, clears their mind and physical space, and makes a life long friend.

My husband & I hired Mel when we decided to move out of state. We had collected quite a bit of "stuff" after being in one place for nearly 20 years. It was overwhelming to think about what to keep & what to unload. Mel is very well-organized , prompt, hard-working & made it all seem manageable. She helped us to make sense of our mess & decide what was worth keeping & what we could toss or donate. It is a good feeling to be free of "unneeded stuff". It was very helpful that she has a truck & she could cart off the donations at the end of the day. We highly recommend her professional services. By the way, she has a great, positive attitude which helps make a tough job a lot easier.

"I am lighter and relieved. I know there is more needed to heal. With your hand, together we made a starting point. I could not feel comfortable going forward without a professional who provides this kind of service unless that person shows compassion and has an understanding of what lies within me that was asking for help."
